W14 - Final Post

Wow - the story of Tom Monaghan (founder of Dominoe's Pizza) blew me away.  As I sat and listened to his story of extreme success and then turned around and gave up the majority of his wealth to help others really touched my heart.  I always had that feeling that if I were to become rich and wealthy that I would totally turn around and help others, but would I really?  That really must have been a huge test of faith for Tom, especially as he gave up all the toys he bought when he did still have all his wealth.  It just goes to show, me at least, that the Spirit can speak to anyone's heart and we can be lead to do the Lord's will as we give up our pride and find ways in which to serve.       I also enjoyed from this week's reading the following from Pres Monson's talk - " Finisher's Wanted " - it reminds me that there is so much to this life than becoming rich and wealthy. Lest we lull ourselves into thinking that only the gross sins of life caus...

W13 - Journal Post

This will be a short post this week.  I wanted to post a reminder to always remember to be grateful for what we have.  We need to have the " Attitude of Gratitude " that Pres Monson speaks about.  I'm especially sensitive to this weeks topic because my wife and I have spent many years as avid listeners and "practicers" of the "Law of Attraction".  We watched a program called "The Secret" years ago, and the general idea of this law is that we attract into our lives that which we THINK about.  Gratitude plays a HUGE role in this law and it's something that we've really tried to keep focused on.     Also, I wanted to post a reminder in this post about the story of Randy Hawkins - please reread this story to review a great life sketch of how the Entrepreneurial Journey occurs.

Are We Not All Beggars ?     I love this talk...  I never really had a sense of the temporal life that Jesus led.  I had never thought of Him as being "homeless", but the scriptures do point to that as the reality of His ministry.  When I read that, I had the overwhelming feeling of someone slapping me upside the head and waking me up to the fact that there are so many out there who are impoverished that we, as the people of God, have an obligation to do what we can to help make their world a better place.  Much like Mother Teresa did throughout most of her life.     Another quote that I love (another slap to the head): Little wonder that King Benjamin says we obtain a remission of our sins by pleading to God, who compassionately responds, but we retain a remission of our sins by compassionately responding to the poor who plead to us.     The Lord stated to Joseph Smith that the poor  would one day see the kingdom of God co...

Formula for success NOTES If we are really to be a chosen generation, we have the responsibility to be prepared, to be productive, to be faithful, and to be fruitful as well. Formula for success - First, fill your mind with truth; second, fill your life with service; and third, fill your heart with love. You and I have the responsibility to learn the word of God, to understand the word of God, and then to live his word. Remember, a testimony is perishable. That which you selfishly keep, you lose; that which you willingly share, you keep. All of us benefit when we remember to magnify our callings. You may recall that Jesus filled his mind with truth; Jesus filled his life with service; Jesus filled his heart with love. When we follow that example, we shall never hear those words of rebuke that came from the parables. I didn't take notes on the other articles I read, unfortunately.  But I did want to make comments about the two Mini Cases we read and responded to this week....
