W10 Journal

I should have been doing this all along... I'm keeping notes here in my journal of articles I read through the week and passages that speak to me.

I loved the article "The Challenge to Become" by Elder Oaks.  I learned that it's not enough to just have a testimony, but that you also need to have a conversion.  This is the only way to BECOME something instead of thinking we just KNOW something.  It's implied that there is action that must be had.  It states in his talk - "The gospel challenges us to be “converted,” which requires us to do and to become."

"The gospel of Jesus Christ is the plan by which we can become what children of God are supposed to become. This spotless and perfected state will result from a steady succession of covenants, ordinances, and actions, an accumulation of right choices, and from continuing repentance. “This life is the time for men to prepare to meet God” (Alma 34:32)."

"We are challenged to move through a process of conversion toward that status and condition called eternal life. This is achieved not just by doing what is right, but by doing it for the right reason—for the pure love of Christ.  Charity is attained through a succession of acts that result in a conversion. Charity is something one becomes. Thus, as Moroni declared, “except men shall have charity they cannot inherit” the place prepared for them in the mansions of the Father (Ether 12:34; emphasis added)."

In reading through all the other texts, my biggest take away is to learn to ignore nay sayers and move forward with a plan in hand.  Even if the plan isn't perfect up front, you just need to take action in order for things to move forward.  If you make a mistake, learn from that event, brush off the dirt and move forward once more.  Consistent action is what is going to make your dreams come true - not just wishing for it to happen.
